Budapest will be the epicenter of track and field when more than 2,000 athletes representing 202 countries will be in Hungary's capital for the 2023 world championships.
Several Olympic gold medalists and reigning world champions will be competing at this year’s championships, including Jamaican sprinter Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Kenyan distance runner Faith Kipyegon and pole vaulter Armand "Mondo" Duplantis representing Sweden.
Coming off a record-breaking 33 medals at the 2022 world championships, Team USA will once again have a strong contingent. Team USA’s Noah Lyles (200 meters), Ryan Crouser (shot put), Fred Kerley (100 meters), Chase Ealey (shot put) and Katie Moon (pole vault) are all set to defend their world titles.
Team USA also features sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson, who is vying for her first world title, and heptathlete Anna Hall who is trying to become the first American woman to win a heptathlon world championship since Jackie Joyner-Kersee in 1993.
